This session came together quickly, but it marked an important transition for this family. As they prepared to move from the East Coast to the West Coast, they were also saying goodbye to a sailboat that had been part of so many everyday memories. Wanting to document this chapter before it closed, mom reached out to plan one last afternoon on the water. We had hoped for sunset, but a cloudy evening gave us soft, even light that felt calm and fitting for the moment. The session unfolded simply — time together on the boat, laughter with the kids, quiet moments as a couple, and small details that spoke to years spent here. These images are less about perfect conditions and more about preserving a place and a season of life as this family gets ready for what comes next. I always love photographing families and couples in locations that hold meaning for them, as those settings naturally shape the story and help create images that feel personal and honest.
