I don’t photograph very many maternity sessions, but when I have the opportunity to work with a past wedding couple—or with a couple whose story and style genuinely resonate with me—it feels especially meaningful to document this next chapter, and my evening with Emily and Taylor felt just that way.
Set among the Carlyle House, historic streets, and waterfront of Old Town Alexandria, this maternity session blended timeless architecture with quiet, intimate moments. Inspired by the couple’s wedding venue, we moved through garden paths, cobblestone alleyways, and along the water, creating imagery that feels romantic, refined, and deeply personal. We also leaned into moments of playful direct light, using sun and shadow to add depth while keeping the overall feel soft and natural. The result is a session that honors both place and season, capturing the beauty of this chapter as it unfolds.
