I was born and raised in Finland, but have been living in the U.S. for the past twenty years. While I have always loved photographs, I didn't exactly grow up wanting to become a photographer or an entrepreneur. In fact, I have a PhD in Criminology and still teach part-time. I say that I'm a criminologist by profession, photographer by passion!
I often get asked how I got started on this journey. Photography first became a hobby to me in 2012 when I received my first DSLR camera as a Christmas gift. We had a newborn and I wanted to document those special moments with him! Then in 2015 we moved to Germany and had a once-in-lifetime opportunity to do a lot of traveling. Desiring to document our travels inspired me to seriously learn photography. Quickly my hobby turned into serious passion and Minna Cirino Photography, LLC (MCP) was officially established in 2017. Education is a central part of my business philosophy and I continuously strive to enhance my skills. I also love to share my passion for photography by offering photography classes for beginners!
I've been married to the most wonderful man for nine years and we have two little boys. We are an Air Force family and have done quite bit of moving around. In the past ten years we have lived in seven states and two countries! We recently moved to Old Town Alexandria, VA and excited to live here in the national capital region! This will be our longest assignment to date and I'm looking forward to staying put for the next several years! I am excited to meet and serve new clients in the Washington D.C. area - let's create memories together!
"It is more important to click with the people than to click the shutter."
Donovan - the realistic optimist, encourager, my tech support, travel buddy, and the love of my life.
Kasper - the easy-going sweet soul, lover of ice-cream and all things legos.
Kristian - our little guy with an adventurous spirit. Lover of bike rides, cereal, big laughs and helping around the house.
Our first baby, best walking buddy and most loyal friend! Loves tug of war, watching birds and squirrels in the backyard and napping in the sun.
The popular quote "I’d rather have a passport full of stamps than a house full of stuff" very much summarizes my take on life. I'm so thankful to have had a chance to live in three countries (Finland, Germany and the U.S.), visit 20+ countries and still looking forward to many more adventures with my boys!
I can't think of a better way to start the day than with a cup of fresh brew. Further, on most days I'm fueled by equal parts passion and coffee. I would love to grab a cup and chat about YOUR big day!
My mom always had fresh flowers around the house, anything from wild flowers to pretty blooms from the florist. To this day having fresh flowers around the house makes me happy!
